Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a physical response to the body staying in "Fight or Flight" mode for an extended or acute amount of time.

How can Massage Help With PTSD?
Research has proven that massage can help alleviate the symptoms of PTSD by increasing levels of serotonin, oxytocin and dopamine in the brain. All three chemicals assist the body to leave the "Fight or Flight" mode that PTSD often sustains. Massage also helps reduce muscle tension and pain, lowers blood pressure, and promotes deeper breathing.
I have been helping friends and family with massage since I was five years old, but it was a former Navy SEAL that had been medically discharged after serving in Iraq that inspired me to get my license and help those that have given so much for their country.
Over the past ten years, I have worked with our military, both Active and Retired, and I believe that the studies done through Universities and the V.A. have had similar results as I have seen first hand at the clinic. But that isn't to say that only our Military get PTSD. I have also worked with clients that have gotten PTSD from car accidents, physical abuse, and from high-stress careers/lifestyles.
Humans are Animals. More than that, we are Pack Animals. Positive touch can not only help heal the body, but the mind as well. Traumatic events and long-term stress literally change us, reshape the mapping of the neural networking in our brains, but that doesn't mean that the person you have become is broken, you've just lost your Balance, become fragmented...but with a little work and a lot of patience, you can de-frag :)
